The most important thing is your dog's neck measurement, not their breed or weight. Breed examples are a general guide only. When in doubt, measure first.

  1. Measure around the widest part of your dog's neck.
  2. Leave enough room to tie a knot and fit two fingers comfortably, this is your breathing room.
Size Neck measurement Typical fit Breed examples

Small

Up to 30cm

Very small dogs and puppies under 3kg

Chihuahuas and toy breeds under 3kg, small puppies

Medium

Up to 40cm

Most small to medium dogs including most toy breeds

Cavaliers, Cavoodles, Cocker Spaniels, Greyhounds, Chihuahuas and toy breeds over 3kg

Large

Up to 55cm

Medium to large dogs

Border Collies, Staffies, Labradors, Golden Retrievers, Standard Poodles

 

Note: Small suits dogs with a neck measurement up to 30cm. Most toy breeds — including Chihuahuas, Toy Poodles, and Papillons — will fit more comfortably in a Medium unless they are under 3kg. If your dog is between sizes, size up for a more relaxed tie or size down for a neater, closer knot.
